Back on my total raw path for a WHILE (months and months) completely off the plan.  I had meat, ice cream, diet coke, etc.  I did the dang thing, as they say.  I paid for it too.  Why?  Stress mainly.  Coping with food.

On Sunday,  I weighed in at 207 pounds.  Disgusted.

This morning I was 203.5.  Much better.  I’m going to keep on going raw.  Feeling very Detox-y today.  Good sign.

Start Weight: 207 pounds
First Goal: 187 pounds
Overall Goal: 140 pounds

I’m already seeing the signs of raw food detox and although it’s not always comfortable running do the bathroom during the workday, there are some great results I can already see.

Mainly…

  • The circumference of my midsection is smaller.  I can tell because I’m wearing a form-fitting top today and I can really see a difference.
  • Let’s just say…more frequent pooping.  LOL
  • More energy – I was not tired at midnight last night.  Very strange for a weekday

Haven’t had much of an issue with gas.  In the past adding psyllium husk to my smoothies every few days kept that at bay, so that’s what I’m doing now.  I’m averaging 40-50 oz of water during the day to try to keep any toxic episode at bay.

Transformation takes time and effort.  My body didn’t get all clogged with toxins and fat overnight.  I’m excited about greater health and wellness and I welcome it into my life as I continue my raw foods journey.

I think I must have been detoxing yesterday because I slept until 11 am and when I got up I wasn’t hungry.  Had some fresh squeezed OJ about an hour later and then did a lot of water the rest of the day.

I snacked for lunch (2 nut/date balls and a pickle.  I know, weird right).

I ended up eating a couple of bites of my boyfriend’s shrimp/pesto/quinoa/wild rice/sugar peas dish.  It’s a dish I always made for him and it’s one of my favorites.  In keeping with the challenge, I didn’t beat myself up, but I did want to be honest and tell the world. 🙂

At the start of day six I was 198 and as of day 7 I’m 197.  Just proves that just by doing 70-80% raw you can still see changes.  Whoo Hoo.

Yesterday as also my rest day on P90X.  Back to exercise today.

The last time I went raw I had headaches randomly for about 2 weeks.  I also experienced night sweating, “heat-like” body breakouts and general skin itchiness, and breakouts on my face.  Today the headaches started.  From what I’ve read, I understand that this comes from the detox.  I’ve been drinking plenty of water and took a nap today.  However, I must admit that I was not all raw.  I had faux chicken for lunch (Faux General Tso’s Chicken from Whole Foods).    Other than that I was raw.  I had…

  • Bananas
  • Carrot Sticks
  • Apples
  • Green Smoothie

I’ll admit I wasn’t all that hungry.  After work yesterday I noticed that unlike most of the time, I wasn’t hungry for junk and I felt the same way today.  I’m glad that I haven’t had any intense craving yet, but I’m sure that battle will come and go.  LOL  I’m in it for the long haul though.  I went to a friend’s house for a lil get together last night.  It was my first social gathering since deciding to go Raw again.  There were offers of pork chops, jambalaya and alcohol.  Even though the host is a hell of a good bartender…I said not to all of the offers of food and “liquid courage”.  🙂  I was very very proud of myself.

I also got the DVD and CD I ordered from Dr. Llaila O. Afrika about Weight Loss and Obesity that I ordered.   I love his Afrikan Holistic Health book.  I’m looking forward to hearing his advice on health and wellness through eating.  He has a very, very radically Afrocentric message.  I’ll let you know what I think.
